What I can eat for the next ten days

The appointment with my nutritionist, Joy, yesterday was really interesting. The bad news is that I have to give up wine, shrimp, raspberries, chocolate and coffee. The good news is that most of those can probably be rotated back into my diet at some point depending on how I react to them later. Raspberries are actually one of the fruits that I had a low reaction to, but I react badly to Benzoic acid which is in raspberries, and so have to avoid them for the time being.

I have a high reaction to several grains, but surprizingly wheat is not one of them. Rice, wheat, and corn were pretty low on my test. Most of the grains I did react to are gluten grains, so Joy said that she wouldn't be surprised if I do have some level of gluten intolerance. I am extremely reactive to baker's yeast so bakery products are out. If I do include wheat in my diet it would have to be pasta or tortillas--she said we can test this out later to see how I feel when I try to eat wheat.

So for the first ten days, I need to keep strictly to foods I do not react to. Chicken, eggs and pork are out--I had a huge reaction to pork and chicken. Eggs were also bad.

The LEAP program occurs in phases, so for my first phase (10 days) Joy is having me combine the first two columns of my results so that I have a good variety of foods to choose from. Here is the list:

I'll come up with more menus later. I must shop!!

  1. How did she determine that those foods were bad? Was it a blood test?

  2. Amanda--Sorry, I thought I answered that for you and realize I must not have posted it properly. Yes, it was the Mediator Release Test. There is a link to info about it in my previous post.

Judith--I'm doing OK, this is a hard plan to get my head around. I am trying to include rice and beans in my diet (for variety) and it is challenging...I'll try to post later today.
