Nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity. ~Voltaire

Day Eleven
Today I left for Portland about 8:30 am and spent the rest of the day walking, taking various buses, and riding the train to Portland. After rushing around this morning to get ready, I didn't have time for breakfast, so I packed a couple of handfuls of almonds, and ate them on the train with some black coffee. When I arrived in Portland, my co-worker and I went next door to the hotel to a little Japanese restaurant where I tried to find something that would work for dinner.
I settled on steamed asparagus, yakitori skewers, and beef-wrapped green onion skewers. They were delicious, but the puddle of sauce they came in was teriyaki sauce. I tried not to let the sauce get on the skewers too much, and saved two of them for breakfast tomorrow. I think this is going to be kind of difficult...
