I pretty much stuck to plan yesterday. Breakfast was leftover pork chop, walnuts and carrots. Basically finger food so I can eat and update my blog at the same time.
The only time I really have to blog is that precious hour or half hour in the morning before work. I get home at night and walk, cook, and then try to get to bed early enough so that I get enough sleep...and the cycle begins again. On weekends I have more time, and will try to post something good each weekend, a recipe or something interesting...but during the week, I am lucky to update sometimes!
So lunch yesterday was another salad, this time with leftover porkchop and tomato and my oil and vinegar dressing. I bring snacks in case I need them, and this week it is pepitas (roasted pumpkin seeds) with a nice crisp apple. Washington state is famous for apples--there are lots of varieties here, but I picked an organic pink lady--sweetly tart and crispy!
Dinner was Brandied Chicken Drumsticks with roasted asparagus, salad with avocado and tomato, and baked sweet potato. We shared an orange for dessert.
This morning I am swerving off plan a bit. I do not want to fry up my breakfast sweet potato hash as I originally planned. We are having guests at work, and I don't want to show up smelling all onion-y, so I had a cold breakfast of boiled eggs, carrots, and kiwifruit.
I really don't have much else exciting to write this morning. I am really enjoying my after-work walk. I live in one of the rainiest places in the US, and so a good gym membership, or treadmill is a must for dedicated walkers. I do love to walk outside, but I don't particularly like to be seriously rained on while doing so--occasionally, I can live with it, but for various other reasons I like to walk on my treadmill. My husband likes to compare me to a gerbil in a cage, which is so true, buy hey, I LIKE my gerbil-wheel!!
Confession: The reason I like my gerbil wheel so much is because I hook my laptop up to it and watch Netflix while I walk. I am completely addicted to television, and don't have time to watch everything I am interested in. Netflix saves me. Rather than sitting on the couch and simply watching the latest episode of whatever I am currently obsessing over, I can walk and watch it and not feel like I am wasting precious time. Now if only I could figure out a way to walk and play my current online game as well...so far that hasn't worked out yet--but I am hopeful that at some point it may. Technology is amazing. Ten years ago this would not have been possible...
I am truly a product of my time. Just call me cyber-cavegirl, or maybe cyber-primalist rather--that has a nice ring to it!
Hi Sara. Your chicken dinner looks great!
ReplyDeleteThe rain can be very heavy here - often monsoon type. I have been known to do a walk totally soaked up to my knees in rain! It's definitely not pleasant.
Apples - my all time favourite is Discovery - but I don't know if you have it where you are? It is very fragrant and has pink flesh in places.
Bearfriend xx
Cyber cavegirl! I like that. I am a TV addict too so your treadmill sounds ideal to me.
ReplyDeleteYour chicken dinner looks fabulous. I bought some apples yesterday - Pacific Rose variety. I have to ration myself to one a day! Bearfriend, I don't know Discovery - that's a new variety to me.
Those apples both sound wonderful. I have been eating Galas and Pink Ladies lately, but it is toward the end of the season, and the organic apples are suffering in quality (the natural aging process I guess...)
