Toast of the Week

I've been missing for a bit here, mostly because I had the flu for a few days and wasn't feeling like posting. But now I'm back!! And it is time for my toast of the week.

Dr Dan, over at Darwin's Table has been a long time low carb/Paleo follower. I first started reading Dan's blog in Fall/Winter 2008 when he first started recording his Paleo journey. Not only is Dan easy to relate to, and an entertaining and informative blogger, he comes up with the most wonderful recipes! Anyway, after going missing for several months, Dan has returned to the Blogosphere, and to the Paleo-ish lifestyle. (I say Paleo-ish because Dan, like me, and many others are realstically Paleo--that is to say, we cannot restrict ourselves so much that we automatically fail.)

I am not by any stretch of the imagination a Paleo Purist, or Primally Hardcore, mostly because I know I cannot give up all the things I love to eat forever. I already eat a much healthier diet than 95% of the US. I don't eat processed foods, I avoid sugar, and I limit my carbohydrate intake and make sure I eat grassfed and organic meat as much as possible. I avoid Polyunsaturated fats. If, however, I choose to have a glass of wine each day, or a tablespoon of cream or a little cheese, it doesn't de-rail me and I know I will stick with a lifestyle that allows me to eat fruit and chocolate--even if it is not every day.

So, cheers to Dan for coming back to us, and I will be looking forward to trying out all his new recipes in the days to come...
