Just in time for Whole9!

So Whole9 (a Crossfit/Coaching blog) is starting up their 30 day challenge again. They had a huge success with it last year--lots of people participated, and they are starting it again this year. I love the post--it is very motivating (in a let-us-run-your-life sort of way.) Sometimes I need someone else to run my life.

In the spirit of my new theme, "Transitioning to the Paleo Diet", I am going to begin this very strict version of Paleo. They want you to start right now, this minute, without excuses--however, I have company coming for the weekend, a huge block of cheese to eat, and a bottle of wine I just opened yesterday...I don't waste food--can't afford to...although I could probably give the cheese away...

I am planning to start this as of tomorrow, but I am IF-ing most of today (If you don't know what that is, read this and this).

  1. Thanks for this info, that is a new site to me and I always love to find new info. Don't know if I will take up the challenge though.

Cheese freezes ok, BTW. It tends to crumble when it thaws but it's better than wasting it or giving it away! I sometimes buy a block when it's on special, and grate it and freeze it.

  2. Yes, I suppose I could freeze it. It is Irish Cheddar which is a little crumbly to begin with, but I have found in the past that aged cheeses seem to develop an even richer flavor after they have been frozen and thawed again...I really don't want to waste it or give it away--I suppose I could just eat as much as possible tonight and freeze the rest. It is excellent cheese...

  3. Aged Irish cheddar! Mmm. Good! I do love a mature cheddar. With a glass of red wine to complement it. Definitely DO NOT give it away!

Have been thinking about the challenge and I will give it a go -- but not just yet. I already eat very much like the way they recommend. In fact the only thing I need to change is to give up dairy and that will be a real challenge for me!

  4. Hi Sara. Had a read of their pages and it sounds very strict. But I can see that all those limitations would lead to a lot of creativity in the kitchen!

    Good luck!

  5. Yes, the dairy thing is really hard for those of us who love dairy. But I am having a cup of coffee this morning with coconut milk--and it's pretty good... :)
