This week has not been a good example of "budget paleo" for several reasons. First, M came home, so I feel like "celebrating" a lot--every time he comes home we have sort of a "vacation" for a couple of days, and so we don't stick close to our budget, etc...
Also my afternoon snack has sort of transformed into a full meal of leftovers which means that I am consuming more meals--more of a variety of food which ends up being more expensive, just because I shop less effectively this way. I don't really consume more food, I just buy twice as much as I need/should because larger amounts are less expensive than smaller amounts...(I'm working on this, i don't like to waste food.)
And since I switched to beef and seafood instead of chicken or pork, it has been more expensive...
Anyway, on to the stats for today. Because we ate a semi-decadent meal yesterday, M and I decided to fast for most of today, so our consumption for Saturday was fairly small, and very cheap:
Afternoon snack: raw cheddar cheese (1.5 ounces--48 cents), 1 ounce green olives (24 cents), 2 glasses wine $1.01.
Dinner: Beef stew (1 pound beef, 2 pounds carrots, 1 pound baby red potatoes, two large onions--this made 8 large servings of which I had two)($1.03 per serving)
Total for day: $3.79
